About the Book

Trauma does not discriminate and affects children of all ages, races, genders and ethnicities. Nevertheless, they can be incredibly resilient and can learn many skills to cope with the help of a trusted adult. It is possible for children to experience the same traumatic event and react differently. It is important to check in with children and ask how they feel about experiences in order to support them and ensure they can receive help if needed.

About the Author

McKenzie Hensen is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Illinois and a certified Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Counselor (TF-CBT model). McKenzie works with children and teens who have experienced trauma in their past. After working with children for years in this capacity, she was inspired by the resiliency seen in these young people on a daily basis. This encouraged her to create a story with the hopes of having children and teens turn inward and use the strengths they carry to cope, overcome troubles, and continue to be resilient.
